Playing through speakers is nice, but there’s no substitute for the immersive nature of headphones that nestle against your ears and deliver those sounds straight into your eardrums. Today, you can get a great deal on a budget gaming headset on Amazon. The online retailer is selling the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless Headset for $50. That’s a savings of $30.
This headset features virtual 7.1 channel surround sound via HyperX’s Ngenuity software. It has a built-in volume slider and the swivel microphone mutes automatically when you push it up. The microphone also has a noise canceling function, which prevents any outside sound from coming through.
We didn’t review the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core, but we did review the non-Core wired version. We gave it a modest 3.5 out of 5 stars. “The Cloud Stinger offers solid sound, serious comfort and an attractive design for anyone who just needs a ‘good enough’ headset without any wallet shock” , we said.
The Stinger and Stinger Core both feature 40mm drivers, but the non-Core version has stereo sound without virtual surround sound capability like today’s headset.
This is a really good deal if you are looking for a budget headset.
