After raising $20 million and increasing its MAUs 50x in 2020, mobile social gaming platform Bunch has announced version 2 of its app, which it positions for the metaverse..
Describing the metaverse as a digital space where people come together and move from experience to experience in a guest column on PocketGamer.biz, Bunch CEO Selcuk Atli says Bunch sits alongside The Sandbox, Roblox and even Discord as part of the current form of the Metaverse.
Version 2 of Bunch will provide
- A spatial environment (similar to Roblox) where players embody 3D avatars where they come together and explore digital spaces
- open experiences (like Discord) where players party on Bunch and move between their favorite games outside of the app
- a decentralized economy (like The Sandbox), which allows players to truly own in-game assets and facilitates expandable utility
Currently available “by invitation only” as more features are added, interested parties can join the waiting list for access.
While the definition and formation of the current and future Metaverse continues to fluctuate, investment in the Metaverse continues unabated, including Netmarble’s recent announcement that 70% of upcoming games will use blockchain technology.
