THOUSANDS of tech pounds, including a 65-inch 4K TV, will be stashed in Abergavenny this week – as an online retailer celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Two boxes full of TVs, laptops, gaming equipment, monitors and computer components will be placed in the Abergavenny area on Thursday, September 23 – and the first person to find each box will win the content.
The giveaway is part of a campaign by leading tech retailer Box, which marks a quarter of a century of activity by visiting four cities in September with prize boxes.
Box will reveal the precise location of the price boxes by gradually revealing the postcode on social media.
The first three digits of the location of the first two price boxes – NP7 – have now been revealed on social media. The postcode covers Abergavenny and the surrounding villages.
The best brands represented in Abergavenny boxes are Sharp, Razer, Synology, Acer, Targus, Corsair and Viewsonic.
Mark Jordan, CEO of Box, said: “We are very proud to be celebrating our 25th anniversary this year – and we couldn’t let this step pass without shouting it out.
“The Box Hunt is a really exciting event, giving people the chance to get their hands on some amazing prizes.
“In business for a quarter of a century, we have incredible relationships with the manufacturers we work with and they have stepped forward in donating some of the most sought-after items in the tech world.
“It’s a very simple premise: find it, grab it, earn it. Each box will contain a list of all the prizes won, so you don’t have to be looking for a huge box.
“We have already visited York, Birmingham and Portsmouth this month and thought we would take the competition across the border into beautiful Wales. There is going to be a real buzz in the neighborhood, that’s for sure.
Two boxes are hidden in each city or town chosen, with NP7 the final destination in 2021. On September 30, there will be a separate contest on the Box website with more top prizes up for grabs. The total amount of the prizes is approximately £ 35,000.
Some of the manufacturers involved in the campaign include EPOS, Cooler Master, Seagate, Hisense, and Philips.
The clues will be revealed on Box’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels.
Box, which has its offices in Birmingham, sells a wide range of technology and computer products, including laptops, desktops, phones and tablets, components, monitors and printers.
The company was founded by Mark Jordan in 1996 and is today the UK’s leading technology e-commerce company, employing over 100 people.
