Upgrading your gaming PC with DDR5 RAM might seem pointless right now, but its blazing fast speeds will soon become standard as we move into the future. With good performance comes higher temperatures, however, and we’re now officially living in the age of fan-cooled USB drives (and yes, they have RGB LEDs).
Geil has officially launched the Evo Vthe first set of DDR5 RAM to have active cooling, in the form of two tiny fans at the corners of the heat shield. The manufacturer claims that its admittedly charming solution helps keep module operating temperatures “in an ideal thermal range” by providing “approximately 45% more heat dissipation than traditional [methods].”
The Geil Evo V seems like a monstrous example of just how fast DDR5 RAM can achieve, with speeds of up to 6600MHz it’s no wonder it needs a dual cooling setup. fan. You can do it see even cooler with its “ice white” color theme, but you can also choose it in gray.
If you fancy getting DDR5 RAM, just make sure your system is equipped with a combination of the best gaming motherboard and one of Intel’s best gaming processors.
AMD doesn’t yet support DDR5 RAM in its Ryzen desktop processors, but that’s all set to change when Zen 4 processors arrive later this year.
