There is a chance that we will see machines packing the latest and greatest equipment in the bargain bins. The fact that every retailer seems to be selling every RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090 they get their hands on means they don’t need to try and entice customers with the latest technology from Nvidia. The same goes for AMD’s Ryzen 5000 processors, and it will be a similar story with Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards.
The shortage of new equipment has had two effects on the prefabricated systems market. The first is that it’s never been this busy, so if you want a cutting edge system you’ll have to spend some money with your system builder of choice if you want something this Christmas side (assuming let it be not too late already). If you desperately want tastes like the RTX 3080 Ti, this is probably still the fastest way to get one.
System builders like iBuypower also have their own pre-built systems that are ready to hit the store faster than custom designs. These iBuypower RDY systems can be with you in days, while other machines can take weeks or even months.
The second, and potentially the most interesting one for anyone looking to get a good deal on Black Friday gaming PCs, is that the latest-gen machines just aren’t as tempting as they used to be. . At least not for the same price. However, not all of this latest gen kit just miraculously goes away, retailers and system builders have to sell it to make money.
Here’s the thing, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with machines built around Zen 2, 10th Gen Intel processors, and Nvidia RTX 2080s if the price is right. If you had bought such a machine six months ago, you would have enjoyed some good games with it, and that doesn’t change with the release of new hardware. Don’t be put off by the fact that such machines don’t use the very latest and greatest hardware. There are still some very good machines.
As always when looking for great deals, focus on what you need and don’t be swayed by a good deal just because it’s cheap.
