So. You have a dedicated space for your game setup. All you have to do is make it look like the room.
Having a playroom, or even a play corner, is something most of us have dreamed of. And it’s probably not until we have grown up, with our own homes, that we can even begin to think about getting there. But if you’re lucky enough to have your own game room, we’ve rounded up 10 items you need to outfit your ultimate game room.
From lamps and coasters to cushions and chairs, we’ve tried to think of everything you need to create the perfect space.

PlayStation Icon Light
One thing you really need in your ultimate playroom setup is some really cool light. There are tons to choose from, like this Tetris or even that Yoshi Egg. One of our favorites, however, is the PlayStation Icons light from Paladone. It is made up of the four iconic PlayStation symbols, each illuminating in their respective colors. Okay, that’s not really a light on visibility – we don’t recommend trying to read below. But it certainly looks crisp and will add dynamism to any gaming setup.
If you’d rather have an Xbox light, don’t worry; Paladone has you covered there too, with an Xbox glowing globe.
How amazing is this Streets of Rage pillow? No game room will be complete without a completely over-the-top gaming-themed pillow, and UK store Insert Coin has you covered. Besides Streets of Rage, there are also DOOM, Fallout, Mass Effect and Animal Crossing pillows. available on the store. Imagine how nice one of them would look sitting on your gaming chair – or a couple scattered on the couch. The dream, really.
There’s a surprising amount of gaming-themed rugs on Amazon, in fact, but this one caught our eye. It’s a retro themed rug in rainbow colors, featuring Pac-Man and icons from various consoles and controllers from yesteryear. If you have space around your sitting area in your playroom, it will be the perfect addition to your floor. Is that a bit of a stretch? May be. But we’re saying why have a game room if you can’t go all out?
The art of Displate
There is literally thousands of artwork related to the game that you can purchase from Displate. We love these minimal splash art pieces in the image above, but from posters to “play quotes,” there’s just about anything you can think of. Displate prints his works on metal panels, which are then attached to your wall with magnets. They look gorgeous and brighten up any playroom with a little bit of color.
Xbox officially licensed alarm clock
This clock is so ridiculous we love it. Why have an alarm clock when you can have one in the shape of an Xbox controller? It’s a really good idea to have a clock in your game room so that you can keep track of the time while you get lost in your favorite game. You can even use it to set an alarm so you don’t play too long (we’ve all been there).
If you prefer a PlayStation-themed alarm clock, fear not. Here’s one shaped exactly like a DualShock 4.
Andaseat Marvel Edition
The key to any good gaming setup is a comfortable place to put your butt. And we can’t recommend Andaseat enough. We looked at a slightly different gaming chair model earlier this year, but the Marvel line is second to none. You have a choice of Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Ant Man, or Spider-Man – and we think Spider-Man’s design is perhaps the most iconic of the bunch. The build quality is exceptional, so no matter what size you are, you will be comfortably seated here. You can adjust the height, tilt, and armrests for the perfect result, and there’s an adjustable neck pillow as well. Chair paradise, basically. Perfect for any playroom or ultimate nook.
Dreo space heater
A radiator ? This is not a play accessory, you can be heard crying. You are right, but listen to us. You want your playroom to be warm and cozy, right? And if you’re hidden from the world and playing your favorite game, you probably don’t want to have to heat your whole house. Enter the Dreo Space Heater. This thing is so small and compact that you can lay it on your desk or underneath to warm your toes. It also wobbles, spreading warm, glorious air throughout the room. So yes, it may be an obscure choice, but the Dreo Space Heater is the perfect playmate.
Halo projector XGIMI
If you’re going to give it your all in your chic playroom … then you might as well do it in style. Why stick to a regular TV or monitor when you can have a projector? There are dozens of projectors to choose from, but we absolutely love the XGIMI Halo. It’s tiny, for one, allowing you to take it pretty much anywhere with you. It holds a charge, so it doesn’t even need to be plugged into the mains. Plug it into your PC or console, however, and you can have a crisp 1080p picture, magnified to huge proportions. What is the size of your wall? This is your only limit.
Cable Guys Controller Holder
When not in use, you want a nice place to leave your controller. Cable Guys are the perfect solution – these plastic figures are fashioned from your favorite video game or geek character, and can be used to hold a controller or smartphone. There are tons of choices – Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Master Chief, even Groot or Baby Yoda – but we absolutely love this Sonic one. When you play something, it’s just a cute Sonic figure, bringing some life to your playroom. And when your controller isn’t in use, it really looks like it’s lifting it up. Thanks for your support, Sonic.
You’re going to need a place to put your drink in your rec room, and of course you’re going to want some gaming themed coasters. There are tons to choose from, but our favorites are these PlayStation from Numskull. . Available in a pack of four, they are shaped like tiny PS1 games, with jewel cases. You, of course, can’t open them to find a tiny little disc inside, but they’re still a wonderful novelty nonetheless. There is nothing better to keep your drink safe than on the face of Parappa the rapper.
